1997 Honda Civic Engine

The 1997 Honda Civic was available with the D16Y5, D16Y7, and D16Y8 engines. These are the engine codes listed for this model year; the facts provided do not include horsepower, torque, displacement, or other specifications.

Use the codes to identify which engine a particular Civic has, rather than assuming every car came with the same engine. The listed engines vary by version or trim, but the available facts do not specify which trims used each one or describe differences in output. Confirm a specific car’s engine and any unlisted specifications on its door jamb or in the owner’s manual.
